The Internet Dies Laughing: WaWii Friend Codes
10 Nov 2008 01:48 David Marseilles The Internet Dies Laughing: WaWii Friend CodesCall of Duty: World at War is rated M for mature due to 1) Blood and Gore, 2) Intense Violence and 3) Strong Language. As such you can't buy it at retail unless you are 17 or older. But if you want to set up a non-random match on Wii, you still need Friend Codes. Remember the Christmas Story where the kid has to wear the pink bunny suit? This is more embarrassing than that by a lot. Christmas Story:

because you can add from random encounters, meaning you don't need to fiddle with codes if you find an opponent you like.(also, adding people you like ftw)
does it allow message board invites like mkwii? if so then there's no real problem.
I am baffled that they didn't bypass NWC though. =/
Isn't that a byproduct of Nintendo's online system design (i.e: not having usernames) as opposed to Treyarch's game design?
Are you saying that a company that isn't in any way affiliated with Nintendo should be setting up and supporting a server to handle user registration with absolutely NO way of recouping that money whatsoever?
Nintendo should do it, but they haven't.
EA managed to bypass NWC, and they seemed to have recouped their dough. How? Game sales. Games with better features sell better than games with worse features.
They're both to blame. Nintendo more than Activision, but both deserve some mockery for an M rated FC game.
I'm still working to confirm that. So far, it's still a rumor. BTW, if anyone figures out how to add a recent opponent, let me know.
……..then this really is an embarrassment. if you're going to stick with NWC instead of bypassing it, then why not implement a feature that takes pain out of friend codes?
I still can find no such option. I welcome anyone who knows where it is giving me the head's up though.
The thing of it is, there's no comm anyway. Basically, the Friend Code means you don't have to get stuck with random maps (in addition to letting you choose who you play with) and standard settings. It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with anyone's safety.
It's absurd to make the safety argument even with a comm system (for a fraking M rated game), but here, the only explanation is that they're just screwing with us to see how much crap we'll take.
