WiiHD is a huge fan of online gaming, but not just any online gaming. Core gaming in genres like racing, fighting, and shooters. So now we want to do our part to help the core Clan community on Wii make themselves known and increase their membership. We will begin listing notable clans that actively engage in clan wars in games like Medal of Honor: Heroes 2. We will however keep the gates, so not just any clan listing will be accepted. A clan needs to demonstrate viability to be listed
WiiHD is now unveiling a gallery of user created videos from Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 (MoHH2), currently the best FPS on Wii, and the only one with online multiplayer. We'll be doing this for a number of similar games as they come out. If you want your video included, just hit the link above and use the submission form.
WiiHD is your one-stop shop for hardcore gaming on the Wii.
Hardcore gamers frequently belittle the Wii for its low-power CPU, small storage space and gimicky casual games. Nintendo didn't keep their promise to focus on both hardcore AND casual games, but they did design a control system that is truly next-gen. Rumors of similar controls for PS3 and the 360 tell that tale. Sure, you can accurately control a 3D game with dual analog. You can also communicate in binary, but why would you want to? The Wii Remote rivals the PC keyboard and mouse as a control mechanism for 3D worlds, and it leaves dual-analog as a relic of the past. It can change the way games are played. Hardcore gaming isn't just about distracting ADD patients with shiny gfx, it's about delivering a whole new way of playing.
The Wii's FPS controls have finally been perfected with the release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. In November of 2007, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 brought the first taste of online FPS to the system, and the most customizable controls we've seen so far. Nintendo's focus may be elsewhere, but if you buy, the games will come. The most exciting game on the menu now is The Conduit, a new original IP from High Voltage that promises the whole package for the first time. The Wii has overtaken the xbox 360's 1 year lead and has the largest install base of any console. Talk of most of them being casual gamers is a misnomer—the new casual gamers mostly live in the same household as a hardcore gamers. If developers will finally stop phoning in Wii development and give us complete games, they'll see incredible returns.
This site will follow, document, review, compare and contrast the Wii's hardcore games with your help. There's good news on the horizon. Be a part of it at WiiHD. And leave your casual games at the door.

Jealous of all the attention Civilization Revolution has been getting, Age of Empires has returned to the DS with a new TBS entry to the series called Mythologies. You get your choice of 3 races each with their own campaign, Egyptian, Norse and Greek. You can play single card local with one person, and it has full local and online as well.
According to Amazon, this one is due out November 24th.
We've got fresh E3 screens and a teaser trailer for your after the break.

We tried, but there just didn't seem to be a clever title hiding in this tidbit. We've got the Quantum of Solace Teaser Trailer fresh from Gametrailers, and some info and screens on the DS version of the game.
The Trailer appears to be a mix of Movie Trailer footage and PS360 footage. It's been a while since we've seen the movie trailer, so we don't know if they grabbed game footage that matches the action portions of the movie trailer or not, but it wouldn't be surprising if they did.
The DS version of the game offers the ability to play using only the stylus. It's unclear whether that's an optional control scheme, or the only one. Well executed, it could be sweet. But things aren't always well-executed, so WiiHD always prefers to have options. You can choose stealth over direct combat, as you'd expect from a Bond game, but here you have upgrades specifically for different styles of play. Although it isn't clear how, playing cards are a part of the enhancement process.
As you'll recall, we told you Treyarch wouldn't be including any card playing in their versions of the game, but the DS version is being developed by Vicarious Visions. We'll try to keep an eye out for more differences as time goes by.
Hit the break for the new Teaser Trailer and 5 DS Screenshots. And check out that 2nd DS screen too. It's from the first Daniel Craig Bond, and is one of the grittiest scenes of Casino Royale. The bathroom also strikes us as a great place to start a Bond game. (Crap, there's material for a clever title)

Moto Racer is a storied and regal franchise with a history of high ratings and superb qualit… AHHHHHHHHH! Sorry, sometimes WiiHD spends a little too much time reading press releases and needs to go all caps to vent. We want to bring you only quality core game coverage, but we want to cover a nice cross-section of genres too.
The new Gallery of the day is for Moto Racer, a motor bike racer with a variety of modes, tracks and a publisher who isn't afraid to use exclamation points, hyperbole, and unnecessary acronyms.
On their list of accomplishments are 1) A special Stylus control system, "Stylus Precision Handling" (unnecessarily acronymed: SPH) that promises precision for "amazing tricks" and handling, 2) 4 player local multiplayer on a single cart, and up to 8 players online 3) 3 difficulty settings, 4) 5 camera angles, 5) 8 enviornments, 6) 32 different bikes with different stats and 7) 44 "crazy" tracks. The modes are below the break with the full press release, but the one that catches our eye is pizza delivery. It's hard to explain just why that is.
We've got video after the break, and 24 DS screenshots so you can see for yourself. One bad omen for the game is they feel they need to fast forward the gameplay and jazz it up with a funky beat.
At an E3 Press conference covered by Gamespot, this popped up:
Feder pops back on stage and quickly talks about 2K Games. Apparently the initial run of Civilization Revolution has already sold out at US retailers, with 2K rushing to manufacture more.
It's not clear how many copies were in the initial run, but Publishers often expect to do a 3rd of their total volume in the month or so after release, so you'd think they had a tidy sum out there. Also, it's not clear whether all versions of the game were equally successful. Still, one of the criteria for un-shelving the Wii version of Civilization Revolution was sales of the other versions. WiiHD is hopeful about the prospects.
We've contacted 2K for clarifications about this apparent sell out, and the implications for the Wii version. We'll let you know what they say.
Didn't we just do a Star Wars post? Ah, yes, The Force Unleashed. Well that's not the only Jedi action you'll be getting in 2008. The upcoming animated Star Wars The Clone Wars (a.k.a. Star Wars: The Quest for More Money) gets its own game as well.
Exclusive to Nintendo, there's a different version for each system. The Wii gets Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels. DS gets Star Wars The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance. The DS version is being developed by LucasArts, and the Wii version has been outsourced to Licensee-heavy Krome.
The Wii version, as you can tell from the name, promises to be the Lightsaber title for Wii. Meaning there's some smack talk between Krome (The Clone Wars Wii) and Krome (Force Unleashed Wii).
The Clone Wars is due out for the Holidays this year. So we'll see soon enough which Krome prevails.
Hit the break for 8 screens for each system and some footage (including new E3 footage).

According to a fact sheet on the newest entry in the SimCity franchise, Creator will have a different angles on the Wii than on the DS.
The Wii version appears to be mostly traditional play with the vaunted ability to free-draw roads with the Wiimote's pointer. The DS version appears to have a focus on creating historical scenarios and making the player adapt to particular pressures present in a particular time period. Looks like EA wants two bites at customers who own both Wii and DS.
In addition to video footage, we've got loads of screens for both the Wii and the DS after the break. Be sure to take a look at the City at Night screenshots.

DS gets all the breaks. First they get Civ Rev before Wii, and now GTA. WiiHD loves open worlds, and while GTA has never been as attractive as say, Morrowind, it's still a very nice addition to the DS library.
This GTA outing takes place in Chinatown, Liberty City. With the cart space limitations, I guess a whole city is too much to ask for, but that should still be a pretty nice chunk of gaming. Once you get there, just remember these words: 太贵了!(tie gway luh) That will save you tons of dough at the Mandarin-speaking shops (not as much as just taking the stuff, but still). If anyone knows the Cantonese equivalent post it below.
WiiHD loves free stuff, so here's some more collected from around the globe from our Contest SuperSite Toolkit. Enjoy, and let us know if you win something.
tothinkistocreate.com is giving away a brand new Wii in exchange for a shoe store recommendation. Open through today, July 15th. The Celebrity Cafe is also giving away a Wii and a DS Lite; enter both daily through the 31st of July. Spacesquid.com is giving away a Wii for the best Mushroom Men short story. IGN is giving away a DS with Guitar Hero: On Tour as well as a copy of Aerosmith for the console of your choice. Game Informer is giving away 50,000 Wii points, all you have to do is guess the game in the screenshot. It goes on all week with one chance to enter per day. Needcoffee.com is giving away Dragon Quest Swords (Wii), Final Fantasy XII (DS), and Heroes of Mana (DS).
Duke Nukem Trilogy has been announced for the DS. It'll have 3 episodes (Critical Mass, Chain Reaction and Proving Grounds) with 36 levels total, 3D graphics and 3D Characters, though it's still unclear what the perspective will be, so don't hope for a free-moving FPS just yet. DS Fanboy hypothesizes that it'll be a 2D sidescroller with 3D elements.
Some WiiHD's first FPS action came on Duke Nukem 3D, so we'd love to see a return to that style of gaming. On DS, however, a good sidescroller can still be fun. With that many levels, you'd almost anticipate a more limited 2D playing area. Those DS carts aren't made of memory. Well, I guess technically they are made memory, but you know what we mean.
WiiHD is proud to present our own Civilization Revolution Preview for the Nintendo DS. There has been more limited coverage of the DS version, and some of it hasn't been very thoughtful. We decided to fill a gap and provide newcomers to the series a good look at just how the game plays.
WiiHD will release our full review shortly, and in it, we'll be sure to note changes in the franchise for Civ veterans. Keep an eye out for it.
Now hit the break for the full preview, perfect for beginners. Permalink
