PyroBlazer Ignites Another Trailer

pyrointro.jpg
Since last we covered PyroBlazer, there are loads and loads of new screenshots and a second trailer. As was the case earlier, these appear to be purely from the PC version of the game.

Pyroblazer is, as you might recall, a futuristic racer with a comforting series of combat elements. Why are they comforting? Because if you're not faster than the competition, at least you can try to kill them.

We contacted Candella Software to ask about the makeup of the Wii build of the game. They told us the Wii version is borrowing assets from the PC version, modified, of course. This is a little comforting for a game that is coming in PC, Wii and PSP flavors. It wouldn't be the first time a developer developed a PSP game and a Wii game too closely together. The release window for the Wii version of PyroBlazer hasn't been narrowed beyond "next year", but we'll keep you up to date as new information comes in.

Hit the break to feast on tons of new assets.

Moto Racer (DS)

mr3pc.jpg
Moto Racer is a storied and regal franchise with a history of high ratings and superb qualit… AHHHHHHHHH! Sorry, sometimes WiiHD spends a little too much time reading press releases and needs to go all caps to vent. We want to bring you only quality core game coverage, but we want to cover a nice cross-section of genres too.

The new Gallery of the day is for Moto Racer, a motor bike racer with a variety of modes, tracks and a publisher who isn't afraid to use exclamation points, hyperbole, and unnecessary acronyms.

On their list of accomplishments are 1) A special Stylus control system, "Stylus Precision Handling" (unnecessarily acronymed: SPH) that promises precision for "amazing tricks" and handling, 2) 4 player local multiplayer on a single cart, and up to 8 players online 3) 3 difficulty settings, 4) 5 camera angles, 5) 8 enviornments, 6) 32 different bikes with different stats and 7) 44 "crazy" tracks. The modes are below the break with the full press release, but the one that catches our eye is pizza delivery. It's hard to explain just why that is.

We've got video after the break, and 24 DS screenshots so you can see for yourself. One bad omen for the game is they feel they need to fast forward the gameplay and jazz it up with a funky beat.

Mini Cores: SPOGS Racing

spogs.jpg
This week's Mini Cores features the new WiiWare title: SPOGS Racing. Your objective? Do serious damage to other racers and in the process steal their parts to upgrade your own ride. Yes, that's right, apparently parts in this game are hot-swappable! You get an instant boost when you pull it off. For a WiiWare title it sounds nice enough, with more than 12 courses, 6 weapons to do your dirty work with, multiple control methods, and 3 different modes. No word on the price or the time of arrival.

If such a game is well executed, one can only imagine that racing might become a secondary objective, Super Dodgeball style. Has anyone seen the dodgeball? … What? There's a dodgeball in this game? Imagine running people down, grabbing their stuff, then turning around completely to run down another player for their stuff… all so you can pound them some more. Finish Line? What Finish Line?

Of course, WiiHD cannot publicly endorse larceny, reckless endangerment, cheating or vandalism. However, we neither reject nor denounce the same. Since WiiHD is part Irish, let us leave you with this: If you must be a vandal, then tear down the unteardownable*. If you must be reckless, never look back. If you must cheat, cheat death. If you must steal, steal the heart of the one you love.
*It's only not a word if you choose not to use it.

Catch the trailer after the break.

Pyroblazer Trailblazes its first Trailer

pyrointro.jpg
Pryoblazer is a futuristic combat racer featuring vehicles called, predictably, Blazers. They're anti-grav ships and they come in an as-yet unnumbered variety, but they do improve as the game goes on, and upgrades are present during the races. They look pretty sweet and they are armed to the teeth. Each blazer gets one of 10 primary weapons and one of 10 different types of mines for a secondary weapon.

The environments sound exotic, the screens and video seem to portray a breakneck pace, but the only two consoles listed are Wii and PSP. So is Wii more likely to get a PC port, or a PSP port? History tells the ugly tale. Still, WiiHD keeps an open mind and looks forward to some futuristic antigrav combat action.

The game is supposed to have already come out for PC, but the date for the Wii and PSP versions are unknown. Hit the trailer and some screens after the break. WiiHD assumes this media is from the PC version, so caveat emptor.
