Clone Wars Duels In Motion

Star War: The Clone Wars (you know, the other definitive Lightsaber game for Wii that doesn't use Motion Plus) showed off some lightsaber-duel footage at Leipzig. Grab it after the break.

At first blush, WiiHD likes The Force Unleashed's duel mode better. It could simply be that these were convention goers playing the Clone Wars demo rather than programmers who knew all the ins and outs of the game, but Force Unleashed looked to be more dynamic. We'll of course keep an open mind as more footage comes out.

Watch the new video below, then go sample The Force Unleashed's duel mode and tell us what you think.

Call of Duty: World At War Gameplay Footage

Courtesy of Games Convention at Leipzig, we've got new footage for Call of Duty: World At War. More than 4 minutes of gameplay. Naturally, from the 360 version. Regardless, the single player campaign has a really nice look to it. The idea of jungle warfare can sometimes dredge up super-depressing Vietnam era memories shaded by slightly post-Vietnam era movies. But Treyarch's rendering looks to strike just the right note. Not dreary, but still gritty. Action packed and full of ambushes. Environments full of ambushes, and as we mentioned before, AI designed to take full advantage of that environment.

Now it's time to cross your fingers that Wii doesn't lose out on any more of the game's feature set.

Watch the video after the break.

The Conduit At Leipzig

We don't post many videos above the break here at WiiHD. That helps keep the front page tidy and responsive. But when it comes to The Conduit, there are no rules.

New MADWORLD Trailer is... MAD

When last Kotaku got their hands on MadWorld, they felt it might be a little repetitive (though probably not as repetitive as the, uh "MAD" post titles that are all the rage /abject shame). It's hard to know from a distance, but the new MADWORLD trailer looks as though there are plenty of ways to kill and mutilate your fellow game show players. Watch it after the break.

In other MADWORLD news, Nintendo Wii Fanboy tells us that MADWORLD, amongst others, won't be released in Germany due to a restrictive ratings system.

Finally, to round out the MAD news cycle, Nintendo Wii Fanboy brings us counter-coverage of MADWORLD's violence from freelancer Thom Binsdale. He looks at backlash from the British Press, founded on the idea that Wii was supposed to be THE family-friendly console, and wonders if the casual crowd will be as accommodating of the core crowd as we have been of them. Core Wii players (this is WiiHD speaking, not Thom), have never been happy about not getting core games, but they haven't really begrudged the casuals from having their fun. The main complaint is that while Nintendo has been catering to casuals, they've largely ignored the core. If that changes, as it seems to be, core gamers are going to perfectly happy no matter how successful Wii Fit is. Thom thinks that, judging from the British Press' reaction, casual gamers may not be quite so accomodating. They may not want to share their gaming platform with… you know… games.

Shocker. Now watch the trailer after the break.

KORE (Wii) Is Alive

Back in May, the news came out that an abandoned original Xbox title, The Kore Gang, was getting a new lease on life on a new console: Wii. An announcement doesn't make it true, but now we've seen a little piece of it with our own eyes. The newly monikered KORE (a name change WiiHD approves of), showed off its first footage on Friday.

Revamped and redesigned, KORE is a platformer that has three heroes protecting the center of the earth from the baddies with a little cybernetic assistance. Now we know, platformers aren't the cool genre anymore, but they're still chock full of potential fun. Even so, platformers aren't the easiest game for a developer to really nail. Nintendo has always been good at it, but by and large, it's a rough genre to really innovate in and provide fun that feels fresh.

That said, we wish the game the best of luck. Take a gander at the new footage after the break.

Mushroom Men (Wii)

It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a meteor with strange properties about to land in the middle of a jungle and give rise to sentient mushrooms and cacti and aggressive and violent insects in the area of its impact! *pause for breath*

So begins the saga of Mushroom Men, who, after their rise to sentience, quickly divide into 4 different nations and, as nations are wont to do, they go to war. There are 4 Mushroom Nations. You are one of the Bolete, one of two non-poisonous Mushroom Nations. The two poisonous nations are looking to wipe out all other Mushroom Tribes so they can be the only Mushroom Men.

Your part in this game will be to guide Pax, one such sentient mushroom, along the way to solve the mystery of the origins of the Mushroom Men, while hopefully stopping a war, bringing glory to your nation (the Bolete) and saving the entire world of Mushroom Men from self-destruction. Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars is a 3rd person action adventure title for Wii due out this November.

The game has a very appealing look and sound, so be sure to check out game screens and video after the break.

Age Of Empires: Mythologies

Jealous of all the attention Civilization Revolution has been getting, Age of Empires has returned to the DS with a new TBS entry to the series called Mythologies. You get your choice of 3 races each with their own campaign, Egyptian, Norse and Greek. You can play single card local with one person, and it has full local and online as well.

According to Amazon, this one is due out November 24th.

Quantum of Solace Teaser Trailer and DS Screens

We tried, but there just didn't seem to be a clever title hiding in this tidbit. We've got the Quantum of Solace Teaser Trailer fresh from Gametrailers, and some info and screens on the DS version of the game.

The Trailer appears to be a mix of Movie Trailer footage and PS360 footage. It's been a while since we've seen the movie trailer, so we don't know if they grabbed game footage that matches the action portions of the movie trailer or not, but it wouldn't be surprising if they did.

The DS version of the game offers the ability to play using only the stylus. It's unclear whether that's an optional control scheme, or the only one. Well executed, it could be sweet. But things aren't always well-executed, so WiiHD always prefers to have options. You can choose stealth over direct combat, as you'd expect from a Bond game, but here you have upgrades specifically for different styles of play. Although it isn't clear how, playing cards are a part of the enhancement process.

As you'll recall, we told you Treyarch wouldn't be including any card playing in their versions of the game, but the DS version is being developed by Vicarious Visions. We'll try to keep an eye out for more differences as time goes by.

Hit the break for the new Teaser Trailer and 5 DS Screenshots. And check out that 2nd DS screen too. It's from the first Daniel Craig Bond, and is one of the grittiest scenes of Casino Royale. The bathroom also strikes us as a great place to start a Bond game. (Crap, there's material for a clever title)

Moto Racer (DS)

Moto Racer is a storied and regal franchise with a history of high ratings and superb qualit… AHHHHHHHHH! Sorry, sometimes WiiHD spends a little too much time reading press releases and needs to go all caps to vent. We want to bring you only quality core game coverage, but we want to cover a nice cross-section of genres too.

The new Gallery of the day is for Moto Racer, a motor bike racer with a variety of modes, tracks and a publisher who isn't afraid to use exclamation points, hyperbole, and unnecessary acronyms.

On their list of accomplishments are 1) A special Stylus control system, "Stylus Precision Handling" (unnecessarily acronymed: SPH) that promises precision for "amazing tricks" and handling, 2) 4 player local multiplayer on a single cart, and up to 8 players online 3) 3 difficulty settings, 4) 5 camera angles, 5) 8 enviornments, 6) 32 different bikes with different stats and 7) 44 "crazy" tracks. The modes are below the break with the full press release, but the one that catches our eye is pizza delivery. It's hard to explain just why that is.

We've got video after the break, and 24 DS screenshots so you can see for yourself. One bad omen for the game is they feel they need to fast forward the gameplay and jazz it up with a funky beat.
